How to play Skyscrapr
Skyscrapr is a free daily word ladder game. You get a four-letter start word at the bottom of a tower and a four-letter goal word at the top. Climb from one to the other by changing one letter at a time, and make every step a real word.
Play today's puzzleThe rules
- Start from the word at the bottom of the tower and aim for the goal word at the top.
- Each move, type a four-letter word that changes exactly one letter of your last word. You cannot add, remove or reorder letters, and the word must be in the word list.
- Press Enter to add the floor to your tower.
- A bright letter is in the right place in the goal word. A letter with an amber outline is in the goal word, but in another place.
- "Fewest moves" is the shortest possible route, also called par. You get twice that many moves, so a longer route that works still wins.
- There is one puzzle a day. It changes at your local midnight, and everyone gets the same puzzle for a given date.
An example
COLD, CORD, CARD, WARD, WARM
Each word differs from the one before it by a single letter. COLD becomes CORD, then CARD, then WARD, then WARM. That is four moves.
Sharing your result
When you finish, Skyscrapr gives you a short message with the date, your route and how it compares with the fewest moves. A shared link shows only the date and the words in your climb.
